WINTERISE

Welcoming you back to Coed to Winterise!

Winterise: To prepare and equip ourselves for the winter.

Whilst Mid-winter (21st Dec) is the darkest time of the year, the coldest time comes later around the beginning of Feb.

We will be gathering pre-solstice on the weekend of the 16th-17th December to get ourselves nourished up for the cold time ahead…

We will be;

Tree planting

Sharing food

Live Music

Dancing

Sauna

Cold water plunge/swimming

breath-work

Sunday Roast

The day begins at 10am with Tree planting – A mix of edibles (chestnuts and apples) and natives – free for all to join. Bring wellies, gloves and a spade! (no worries if you can’t bring these, just useful if you can!)

From 1pm  we will be stopping for hearty bread and soup and warm-up by the fire, we ask for a donation for those who want to join for lunch but not plant trees!

There will be a cosy space indoors for those who want to stay warm by the fire and drink tea and mulled cider!

At sunset, around 4pm Stephen and a few community members will be holding a space to chat about the community at Coed, and community in general, and how we can, do, and sometimes don’t support one another and feel connected. This session is very much open for questions and answers on the nature of community and communities in general.

At 6pm we will be serving up a yummy and hearty GARDEN SUPPER for all to join! We ask for a donation of £10 to help us cover costs.

From 7pm onwards The Living Room Open Mic will transition into the evening. Mulled Cider from the gardens served with the usual sacks. Bring something to share. Following the Open Mic we will be having a good ol’ knees up, dancing into the late night. Open mic and dance is free for all to join.

ACCOMMODATION: For those of you who want to stay over, We Have Accommodation available. Book through Mathu on mathubloom@hotmail.com. You will be required to bring your own bedding! Also note: if anyone wants to arrive friday night in accommodation then that is also ok. Contact Mathu

You can also stay over in the barn for free if you bring your own bedding or hire out our own bedding at £15.

On Sunday morning we will be lighting the Sauna, and for those who are feeling brave, plunging into the Coed Swimming Lake, combined with some breathing exercises to help us acclimatize to the cold before warming up in the Sauna. This session will be led by Chris Jones, yoga teacher and breath-work instructor. This session is free, and we welcome donations to cover our wood costs for the sauna. It is limited to 12 people, as the sauna can only hold 12 people at a time and we want to make sure everyone can warm up adequately afterwards!

After Sauna we will be sharing Sunday Roast together at 1pm which will end our weekend together. Again we ask for a donation of £10 to cover lunch costs. Please let us know in advance if you will be joining for lunch. There will be a space after lunch to chill until 5pm for jamming, singing or whatever.

We ask all people to leave by 5pm unless we state otherwise.

Also, please note: as this is a winter gathering we have to be flexible and adaptable to the weather conditions, and schedules may change accordingly. We ask for your understanding that although we make plans, plans can change last minute, especially in the winter!

Happy Winterising!
